In an announcement to Councils on Friday 18 December 2015, the NSW Premier and the Minister for Local Government advised of their proposal to merge the Councils of Tumbarumba and Tumut.

Council has lodged its submission on the Proposed Merger with the Delegate. A copy of the submission document is available here.
On 6 January 2016, the State Government released further details of its proposal to merge Tumbarumba with Tumut Council and has announced their delegate, Mr Rod Nockles, who will assess the proposal in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
Residents are urged to make a submission - written submissions will be accepted until 5.00pm Sunday 28 February 2016 and can be submitted directly on the website
