Tumbarumba Drought Mitigation Strategy - Published: 28 Nov 2008
Recent drought conditions in the Tumbarumba region have affected the ability of the local water supply to meet current and future demands. Flows in the main creeks that supply much of the shire water supply have been declining, and current groundwater extraction infrastructure is inadequate to compensate for the decline in surface flows.

This has resulted in the potential for future decreases in the quantity and quality of water available for Tumbarumba’s water supply. Several reports and consultations with the community have identified anxiety amongst Tumbarumba community members about potable water quality.

This report was presented to Council at its meeting held on 27 November 2008.  At that meeting, Council resolved adopt Design Option 4 as its preferred option and to place the report on public exhibition for comment prior to consideration again by Council at its meeting to be held on 18 December 2008.

Council also resolved to convene a public meeting regarding this issue on Tuesday 16 December 2008. more ..
